Old quarries and sandstone outcrops

This area, which lies within the young Oak and Birch woodland, consists of sandstone outcrops and old quarry workings. There is frequent regeneration of Oak and Birch together with scattered Holly. There is an acid grassland ground flora with occasional Bracken, Male Fern, patches of Heather and Rosebay Willow-herb.
