Wet Woodland

The vegetation along Treeton Brook is particularly rich. A wide variety of trees and shrubs occur here including Ash, Hazel, Guelder Rose, Alder, Crack Willow, Grey Willow, English Elm, Wych Elm, Sycamore, Sessile Oak, Balsam Poplar, Hawthorn, Dog Rose, Field Maple, Crab Apple and Rowan.

The flowering plants reflect the mosaic of dry acid soils and wetter, nutrient rich areas, with the former being characterised by Bluebell and Creeping Soft-grass and the latter by Lesser Celandine, Meadowsweet, Red Campion, Angelica, Wood Anemone, Ramsons, Greater Stitchwort and Opposite-leaved Golden Saxifrage. Ancient woodland indicator species in these areas include Yellow Archangel, Dog's Mercury, Wood Sorrel, Moschatel or Townhall Clock, Ramsons and Yellow Pimpernel.
