Semi-natural Oak & Birch Woodland

The central area of Scholes Coppice supports a much greater number of native tree species than the plantation area described above. It is dominated by a dense 20 to 40 year old growth of naturally regenerated Sessile Oak and Silver Birch, together with occasional mature Beeches. The ground flora here is somewhat similar to that in the plantation being dominated by Wavy Hair-grass, together with Bracken and Bluebell.
