This area, which includes the narrow woodland belt adjoining Scholes Lane in the north-west corner of the site, is characterised by Sycamores and Sessile Oaks, most of which are only 30 to 40 years old. Other trees present include Ash, Birch, Common Lime and Beech.

There is an open shrub layer of Elder, Dog Rose, Hawthorn and Holly. Creeping Soft-grass, Wavy Hair-grass, Bramble, Bluebell and Ivy dominate the field layer.
