Wet Willow woodland

Wet woodland dominated by Crack Willow is present along Car Brook in the northern section of Bowden Housteads Wood. This type of wet woodland is often known as 'carr' and this may be the origin of the name of the Car Brook.

The ground flora in this area is dominated by Lesser Celandine, Creeping Buttercup and Remote Sedge. Also present is a rich variety of other herb species typical of wet places, including Brooklime, Common Valerian, Angelica, Large and Wavy Bittercresses, Great Willowherb and Meadowsweet.
