VISITING BY CAR

Parking
The best parking point for the wood is adjacent to Treeton Enterprise Centre. This is situated behind the rear of Treeton Primary School and can be reached along Rother Crescent. From here paths run downhill to enter the wood at two points on its northern edge.

A small amount of parking can also be found on Smallage Lane, adjacent to the southern end of Falconer Wood. Those parking here should take particular care not to block the lane or entrances to the woodland.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Buses
Although no buses travel directly to the site, the immediate area is reasonably well served by public transport.

From Rotherham, bus service 132 travels to Treeton three times an hour. Buses to Aughton from Rotherham include the 126 (twice every hour) and the 129, 263 and X26 (each once an hour).

Buses from Sheffield run to Fence, close to the southern end of Falconer Wood. These include the 222, X5, X6 and X15, all of which run once an hour.

The area is also easily accessible from the Mosborough/Crystal Peaks area, from where the number 222 can be caught.

All bus routes and times are of course subject to change and so you are advised to contact Traveline on 01709 515151 to confirm these details.

Another footpath off Falconer Lane leads across fields into the southern edge of Hail Mary Hill Wood.

Two paths from Treeton enter the northern part of Hail Mary Hill Wood. The westernmost of these two access points is across a wide steel bridge over the mouth of the Treeton Brook where this enters Treeton Dyke. The other access, further to the east, is also across a bridge over Treeton Brook.

An unofficial but well used path connects the eastern tip of Hail Mary Hill Wood with the western tip of Treeton Wood, across fields.

Paths
Hail Mary Hill and Falconer Woods have a good network of both official and unofficial paths. The 'circular' horse-riding route has been surfaced and as a result is easily accessible. Areas close to Treeton Dyke are relatively flat, the slope of the woodlands increasing towards their western edge.
